Davido Goes Broke After Chioma Left Him.

Believe me or not, as far as livelihood is concerned, celebrities do go broke from time to time. Just because they are famous and commanding influence with so much -you know, better-looking, characterized by energy vigor, well-dressed doesn’t mean they’re always rocking around living the good life. Trust me, a great number of them you’ve seen have been incredibly broke at one time or another.

Just like any other person, they have made bad investments, spent their fortunes thoughtlessly, especially on things that wouldn’t make sense to most people. In certain cases, they try to live well by stretching beyond their means.

The most unavoidable is when they raise family- no doubt cost of raising a child can vary depending on a number of factors. Cost estimate may overdraw certain costs of parenting while pushing aside their personal needs. That’s to inform you that kids aren’t cheap.

DAVIDO
David Adeleke professionally known as Davido and Omo Baba Olowo (OBO) has been coining money since he began his music career. In the point of fact, his Net worth currently rates $40 million dollars making him the richest Nigerian artiste. His source of income is solely from his singing career, songwriting and record production. And a quick preview on his profile will unwrap his family life (his lovely wife and three children) which is his core priority. There are a number of circumstances and choices that can increase the cost of child rearing, family management and maintenance which accrue to dropping his net worth, unavoidably. As he continues to spend unnecessarily, the royalties on his song begins to trickle in and then finally drops.

D’BANJ
D’Banj or Koko master whose real name is Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo is one of  the top musicians as far as Nigeria music is concerned. However, it’s quite unfortunate, though he’s still picking up the pieces, yet his music career has experienced a downtime in a bit since his first son, Daniel Oyebanjo III died on June 2018. I’m a bit teensy concerned about his fate even when it weighed on both parents that their worlds were seemingly crumbling, especially where measures were ensured to bring back their child back to life. You could envisage the state of their financial crisis even currently.

WIZKID
Ayodeli Ibrahim Balogun (Wizkid), a talented and versatile Nigerian singer, and a major  contender of Davido. His net worth is about $30 million. He grew to stardom when he released a song “Holla at Your Boy”, after he signed up a record deal with Empire Mates Entertainment (E.M.E). This happened between year 2009 and 2010. He started earning his mazuma (money) at the age of 11 from a collaborative album recording. Wizkid’s role as a father with many children is undoubtedly very important especially in the growth and development of his child from Sola, his first baby mama, who gave birth to a wizkid’s son (Boluwatife) back in 2011. That would be one of his flirtatious lifestyle amongst other baby mamas including Tiwa Savage. I prefer not to lay emphasis on that. Nevertheless, a responsible father and husband or whatever will always or at some point ensure that his kids, wife, date or ex’s- get a healthy environment to grow or live in. This will involve…money.

DONJAZZY.
You can’t talk about Nigerian Hip-hop without mentioning Don Jazzy. The Mavin Record boss, Michael Ajereh, tend to be more prudent with his income and disbursal; he was part of the recent intervention scheme to recession and COVID-19 pandemic as well as the endSARS movement as he contributed immensely for the betterment of the society. He recently turned 38, and people have been speculative about when he would get married and have a family, at least out of wedlock just as he is approaching 40, and have grandchildren for his parents as every typical African parent would always yearn and pray for. While some people out of pillory would say he prefers spending his money on pretty curvy damsels and get broke thereafter, or not having enough money to do a thrilling and luxurious weeding like his class would do. It could be some kind of marital spell or delay, they also added.

However, Don Baba J (as he is fondly called) is not perturbed by all that, instead he is more focused on his music business and his immediate family.

SIMI
Simisola Bolatito Ogunleye, popularly called Simi happens to be one of my favorite female artistes when it comes to Nigeria R&B music. In point of fact, she is currently one of the richest and most influential artistes in Nigeria; she has estimated net worth of $2 million dollar. Obviously, she is indeed a force to reckon with in the entertainment industry. As everyone knows, she is married to her longtime boyfriend, a popular singer, Adekunle Gold, and blessed with a pretty baby girl. However, like any other person in the society who has been affected by the same pandemic, she has ensured (together with her husband) to play her role both as a nursing mother and a wife to keep her family safe especially in a metropolis like Lagos which top the list of COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria. Though she decided to keep it on a low profile, but this period has zonked out so much from her financially, especially during her maternity to the pandemic, thereby halting her business.

BANKY W

A U.S. citizen by birth and  $5 million dollar net worth Olubankola Wellington popularly known as Banky W, a singer, actor, entrepreneur, politician and owner of the now dissolved EME Record label, remains one of the most bankable celebrities in Nigeria. An ambassador for various top multinational brands like 9Mobile(former Etisalat), Uber, Samsung, amongst others. He is married to a Nollywood star, Adesuwa Etomi-Wellington who has recently given birth to his son, Hazaiah.

For months the rumor lingered and was later ascertained about Banky W turning a preacher of faith, and this has ground out gossip about his former career compared with his current decision, believed to be influenced by his wife. I could assure you that till date it’s likely a senseless situation to most followers on social media leaving them with the doubts like “will he still have the vibes and nail it much more as he’s got in his music career now that he’s a preacher?” or “how is that gonna be possible for him as preacher in the pulpit and as hip-hop star if he runs with both?”. Truth is he can’t run with both since he is almost becoming a clergy. Probably, he’ll deny much of it but the reality seems to be he’s walked away from secular music. Of course this can’t ruin his music as a career. Meanwhile, somehow, much financial demands are inevitable as a responsible dad and husband…and now clergy.
